1. Sars-CoV2
Sars CoV2 is one of the coronaviruses. Many Viruses in this Family Cause the Common Cold.SARS-Cov2 however is responsible for causing the respiratory illness COVID19. These viruses are positive-sense-single-stranded RNA Viruses that get their name from the ¨corona¨ formed by the spike proteins around the host derived viral envelope when seen under the electron microscope and as seen in the image above.
Coronaviruses types alpha and beta can infect humans and animals. Gamma and delta coronaviruses only Infect animals. All coronaviruses can exchange genetic material which when coupled with mutations that occur during rna translation generate tremendous potentially for genetic diversity; and thus resistance to the immune system, therapeutic interventions, and vaccination.
